Akeelah and the Bee

This family drama features Akeelah Anderson, an intelligent 11-year-old girl who possesses a distinguished spelling ability. Although she is not supported by her mother, Akeelah decides to compete in many spelling contests, for which she is tutored by the forthright Dr. Larabee; her principal Mr. Welch and the proud residents of her neighborhood.
