‘’ Russian Ark’’ begins on a winter’s day, a small group of people ride horses to manor, side entrance of the Winter Palace. Following the memories of a 19th century French aristocrat about life in Russia, traveling through the Russian State Hermitage Museum and meeting historical figures from the decades ago.
