Season 5 sees a lot of changes in the life of main characters. Synclaire and Overton get married and go on a honeymoon cruise. The relationship between Max and Kyle is challenged when Kyle accepts the job offer in London. Khadijah dreams to form a fledgling '60s girl group with her friend. In the end of the season, Max is pregnant through artificial insemination and surprising discovers that her sperm donor is Kyle.
