Rebecca unintentionally causes a fire in Cheers due to her cigarette, therefore the bar need rebuilding and the staff has to look for temporary jobs. Lilith has an affair and wants to spend 1 year sealed in a biosphere with her lover, which leads Frasier to feign suicide to prevent her. Diane returns to Boston after winning an award for her writings, but everything seems to be different. Sam possibly leaves Cheers for good. Woody gets a job for Norm, and Cliff receives a promotion, while Rebecca hopes to wed Don. The gang ponders the meaning of life.
